Thing 23

How sad to see that I am finished and just by the skin of my teeth!
I have enjoyed this project immensely.
I have loved creating what I think is a beautiful page.
I am so amazed at all the things one can do. I have gained some new skills and a number of which I can see will be of real use to me both workwise and personally.
Thankyou for the opportunity.
Anytime you are in my neck of the woods...drop in and we will chat over a coffee....

Audiobooks

Today i ...
had a lovely time browsing amoungst the books at the World ebook Fair.
I spent alot of time looking at the childrens books.
a number bought back some lovely memories of the wonderful books of my childhood.
It is terrific that so many books are available this way...who knows one day I may really need to access a book this way but for now I am content to while away the hours buried in a book.

You Tube

I found a wonderful video called The Art of Coffee
What an artist the person was who was making those cappacinos!!
You Tube is amazing.
I have heard about it but never ventured there before.
Unfortunately I was unable to upload as I have to verify my email account and that email is at home.

Nearly there ..................

Only a few things left to do.
What a great course this has been.
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to the creator/s.
Have a treat on me!!!

Web 2.0 award list

Well that was fun.
It is an interesting site with lots of action.
I enjoyed looking at some of the award winners.
Especially 43 things and Lulu (I could stay there for ages, browsing through the books.)
This is a site that would be of great use to lots of people but I can see a particular use and need for it for librarys - A terrific tool to direct people to and promote things about techical and literary advances.

ZOHO WRITER - how exciting!!!

I am thrilled to say that I was able to publish my document from ZOHO WRITER to my blog...see entry below.
Zoho Writer is a brilliant tool.
It is fun and easy to use and I think totally brilliant.

Today ...

We are buying a house.  Our first house.  And what a time it is.  Just like anything new we find ourselves floundering along and of all things, coming up against incompetence in areas that pertain to be the experts.

The veteran house buyer will smile and nod their head at this.  Knowing the pitfalls and the panic and the stress of the situation.

But the veteran house buyer is also one to beware of as well.  They know all the horror stories and all the ways you should have gone.  They frown about your choice of borrower, they suck in their breathe if you mention any tiny fault found in the building inspection, they look aghast at this and that.

Its somewhat akin to when you have your first baby.  Everyone knows better than you and everyone's baby is sleeping, eating, walking, talking longer, better, faster than yours and you feel like a mess and a dope.

In parenting there are long term and short term answers to problems.  In buying a first home - the same.  Though my child is more precious than any old building could ever be.  My long term plans are being laid out as I type, my short term goal is for it all to come out right in the end and to ease the burden by stopping and sipping on cappacinos around each bend in the road.  If anything I can enjoy the journey....then again I may need so many of them I wont be able to sleep...........cool

Wiki's

Today i ... successfully ...
played around with Wiki's.
I have used Wikipedia for some time now and have found it informative although I am always aware that not all of its content is always 100%.
I learnt something new ... wiki means QUICK in Hawaiian. Wow!! That makes sense!!!
I added my list of favourite movies to the sandbox.
1. It's a wonderful life.
2. Bridget Jones Diary.
3. Sense and Sensability. (Emma Thompsons screenplay version.)
4. The Mirror has Two Faces.
5. American Dreamer.

Unsuccessfully
I couldnt add my blog to Sandbox's favourite blogs.

Not bad....

The Future of Libraries

This course has shown me many cutting edge things about the changing face of technology and libraries. Libraries to me will always be about books and people. The technology is not far removed from that equation. Most of these things work to bring libraries into the modern landscape and I think bring an intimacy and community feel that was found lacking in libraries of old.
I for one think that all libraries (including work ones) should have a coffee shop in them or at the very least a coffee making machine and a comfy chair!

Del ic ious and Technorati

Of the two I thoroughly enjoyed working with Del ic ious and tagging a number of articles that are of interest... I could have stayed there for alot longer as it was great fun. I also found it very simple to master.
Technorati was of less interest. Though it was interesting to read other peoples blogs and see where the search would take me.
Today i ... will have to treat myself a cappacino on the way home...

Rollyo

Well one cappacino wont cut it i am afraid.
I have spent simply ages working on this and just keep hitting a wall.
I am upset that I havent been able to work out how to bring a Rollyo search box onto my blog.
Anyway I am moving on.
And definitely getting a coffee to keep me going....

Rollyo

Well here we go...today i ...

played around with Rollyo.

here is my first attempt at seeing if it works on this blog.

RSS Feeds

Today I ...
ventured again into the world of RSS feeds and have added two feeds to my blog.
Tomorrow I ...
will see if they have worked.
