We are buying a house. Our first house. And what a time it is. Just like anything new we find ourselves floundering along and of all things, coming up against incompetence in areas that pertain to be the experts.
The veteran house buyer will smile and nod their head at this. Knowing the pitfalls and the panic and the stress of the situation.
But the veteran house buyer is also one to beware of as well. They know all the horror stories and all the ways you should have gone. They frown about your choice of borrower, they suck in their breathe if you mention any tiny fault found in the building inspection, they look aghast at this and that.
Its somewhat akin to when you have your first baby. Everyone knows better than you and everyone's baby is sleeping, eating, walking, talking longer, better, faster than yours and you feel like a mess and a dope.
In parenting there are long term and short term answers to problems. In buying a first home - the same. Though my child is more precious than any old building could ever be. My long term plans are being laid out as I type, my short term goal is for it all to come out right in the end and to ease the burden by stopping and sipping on cappacinos around each bend in the road. If anything I can enjoy the journey....then again I may need so many of them I wont be able to sleep...........
